On October 26, a joint Cybersecurity Laboratory of USSC and UrFU was opened in Ural Federal University. This laboratory is unique in the area in terms of technical fit-out and visual design
On Tuesday, October 26, the opening ceremony of Cybersecurity Laboratory was held at the Institute of Radioelectronics and Information Technologies (IRIT-RTF) together with USSC company. The Laboratory will become a multi-industry center for interaction between students, teachers, manufacturers of protective equipment and representatives of enterprises interested in obtaining qualified personnel. Other global goals of creating the Laboratory are to conduct research, experiments, scientific and practical work based on the tasks and projects of operating enterprises.
The Laboratory opening is a big event for us. It is an example of interaction with a reliable partner which is one of the best in Russia — Ural Security System Center, Viktor Anatolyevich Koksharov, Rector of UrFU, greeted the guests of the ceremony.
Theoretical and laboratory classes in Cybersecurity and Telecommunications Information Security will be held in the Laboratory, as well as different special courses. Each type of class has its own Laboratory configuration — standard placement of students at desks, remote lecture in VC format, equipment layout for laboratory classes.
Valentin Bogdanov, General Director of USSC noted the importance of interaction of business with the university:
"Opening of the Cybersecurity Laboratory is a very significant step, but, to be fair, it's one more step that strengthens our cooperation. We are planning to develop a community of students who are keen on not only information security, but related disciplines, as well. We would like the Laboratory to be applied by everyone who plans to create useful and complex engineering systems in the protected runtime environment and any cyber-physical systems. Therefore, I encourage all students to participate in the work of the Laboratory, to use and develop it. This is the only way which will enable us to obtain maximum value and benefit from it."
Also, as part of the opening ceremony, a press conference "Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity in the Context of Industry Digitalization" was held. Evgeny Gurari, Assistant to Plenipotentiary Representative of RF President in the Ural Federal District, Ilya Obabkov, Director of the Institute of Radioelectronics and Information Technologies (UrFU), Andrey Antipinsky, founder of USSC, LLC, spoke at the press conference.

"A strong school has been formed in the Urals region, in Yekaterinburg, in particular. We are practically leaders in cybersecurity area. We are extremely interested in making sure that this is not a Laboratory of USSC at the university, but that it is a Laboratory of the university that attracts business partners to solve various specific tasks. Many people talk about digital transformation and mean a technology mix. Of course, this is a bit wrong, this is a change of a certain paradigm," Andrey Antipinsky emphasized.
"The company and the university have invested not only money, they have also invested competencies. This generates trust between partners and opens up new opportunities to develop further interaction. We want to market this Laboratory as a place for the creation of interinstitutional, interdisciplinary projects," Ilya Obabkov, Director of the Institute of Radioelectronics and Information Technologies (UrFU), commented at the opening ceremony.
The USSC laboratory will become the first Cybersecurity Laboratory in the Ural Federal District which is equipped with such technical fit-out.
