PAO Severstal, one of the world’s largest mining and steel manufacturing companies in partnership with USSC has successfully completed the first deployment stage of the Cybersecurity system for critical assets: blast-furnace and coke factories.
This project was focused on deploying a comprehensive cybersecurity solution that would protect the assets against external and internal threats. The project included security audit for all factories in scope and proof-of-concept development for the cybersecurity system. Corporate and technological network segments were split and interconnection points number was minimized. Furthermore, micro-segmentation was implemented for all Industrial Control System (ICS) networks along with data flow control and security status monitoring solution deployment and integration with corporate security management system.
The final stage of the project included ICS security solution deployment that was based on DATAPK product family, developed by USSC. The solution allows the Customer to monitor and manage all security incidents, providing increased ICS operation stability and cyber-threat mitigation, reducing possible health and environmental harm as well as financial and reputational losses.
Striking a balance between solution complexity, provided security level and overall solution cost was very important for us. USSC has managed to design and implement a solution that fit all our requirements, and this project allowed us to determine the general vector for further industrial security development for the Company, – says Sergey Povyshev, senior manager of the Industrial Security Group, part of Severstal’s Security Department.
Undoubtedly, this is one of the most significant and unique domestic ICS security projects. Our joint effort together with our colleagues from Severstal resulted in the very first production deployment of a comprehensive industrial security solution in Russia. We owe outstanding project quality results to professional expertise of both USSC and Sevestal engineering teams as well as to efficient collaboration between all project participants, – concludes Valentin Bogdanov, USSC CEO.
