Hikvision company together with its partner, Ural Security System Center (USSC), has modernized the security system of Municipal Secondary School No. 184 "New School" in Yekaterinburg. The closed-circuit television system is based on Hikvision and HiWatch open-street CCTV cameras.
It was required to replace outdated equipment on the territory and in the school building, as well as to install new cameras in so-called "blind" zones to increase control and security over the territory. It was also required to ensure the unification of technical solutions and access to video data. The school management paid special attention to the quality of the transmitted image, the availability of certificates and terms of warranty support, when they were choosing systems. An important requirement in the project was the possibility to implement an economically-sensible, yet a functional and reliable solution to build a uniform CCTV system.
To cover the entire school territory with a CCTV system, HiWatch camera models with different focal lengths were selected – the devices control both wide zones (the common area in front of the school, its perimeter, and others) and narrower ones (the entrance space, staircases, vehicular and pedestrian accesses to the school, inner yards). The big advantage of the system is the availability of modern EXIR internal light emitting within the range of up to 30 meters - it is a patented Hikvision's technology based on thin–film light-emitting elements. Unlike conventional infra-red internal light, EXIR technology ensures uniform light scattering from diodes, so when the camera switches to a black-and-white mode at night, there are no dark corners at the edges of the frame and light-struck areas in the center. It enables to get a better image in poor light conditions and get reliable information about the current situation in the protected area.
To ensure the safety of playgrounds, 4 MP Hikvision cameras with EXIR internal light were used. They emit light within the range of up to 50 meters to increase the monitoring area. High resolution and additional analysis for detection motions when "virtual" lines are crossed and specified areas are intruded significantly increases the information image content and the effectiveness of the security system.
The installed cameras support the RoI function – highlighting the specified areas – which enables to broadcast the selected frame area (for example, where there is constant movement) in higher quality than all other areas. This reduces the requirements for bitrate and saves space in the archive. Application of H.265+ compression codec ensures additional saving, due to which the system compresses the video stream without losing the original quality, but the archive takes up much less space.
As part of the security system modernization project for "New School" in Yekaterinburg, outdated readers of access control system were also replaced with new PERCo readers which are supported with NFC mobile identifiers. The CCTV system based on Hikvision and HiWatch cameras was integrated into the shared IT school infrastructure which is based on Trassir software of DSSL company.
